The Book of Wishes Creative Workshop

In 2004 Breathing Space ran a week long arts workshop covering cross-curricular material with children age 9-13 (Y4 - Y8). The starting point for the work was Bambert's Book of Missing Stories by Reinhardt Jung. Over the week Breathing Space artists led activities across disciplines including:

  • Ice art inspired by the work of Andy Goldsworthy
  • A self-devised drama presentation with live music
  • Creative writing
  • Book making
  • Drawing and painting with reference to the artist Tom Phillips
  • A reflective garden journey
  • Storytelling
  • Map-work

Curriculum Content

  • The work can be adapted for use across the KS2/KS3 age range.
  • Bambert's Book of Missing Stories is a multi-layered poetic story, which is accessible but deceptively simple. Its complex themes are well suited for exploration by pupils from ages 9-14.
  • The book is a good starting point for looking at oral storytelling.
